چکیده

Levine, Wigod, Backer, and Ponder (1949) and Levine, Kuhmichel, and Wigod (1952) have described two examples of an antibody, " antiCellano," which reacts with all blood samples except those from individuals belonging to the rare genotype KK. The first example was found in a woman whose infant had mild haemolytic disease of the newborn; the second was found in a patient who had received several transfusions. The first serum agglutinated red cells suspended in saline, reacting most strongly at 370 C.; the second serum gave weak agglutination in saline but gave distinct reactions when the indirect Coombs test was used. The present note records the detection of a third example of anti-k.

Blood group incompatibility due to anti C antibody: a case report

Background and Aim: One of the main goals of blood transfusion medicine is to determine the compatibility of the blood products with the patients. Therefore, clinical and laboratory (serologic) evaluations should be done to determine the maximum compatibility (or minimum incompatibility). The most known blood groups is the ABO antigenic system and the most important of them is Rh system. Among ...

Prevalence and specificities of red cell alloantibodies in transfusion-dependent beta thalassemia patients in Yazd

Abstract Background Multiple transfusions in thalassemia patients may lead to antibody production against blood group antigens and hemolytic transfusion reaction might occur. In this study, antibody screening test was performed by tube and gel methods to determine the prevalence and specificity of alloantibodies in thalassemia patients. Materials and Methods In this cross-sectional study, overa...

Prevalence and Haemolytic Significance of Red Cell Antibodies among Dangerous Universal Donors in a Tertiary Care Hospital in South India

Background and Aims: A subgroup of group O individuals called ‘dangerous universal donors’ have immune (IgG) anti A and anti B antibodies which are active at 37˚C and capable of reacting with the red cells and causing lysis. The aim of this study was to find the prevalence of dangerous O group among the voluntary donor population and to assess the relation between the degree of haemolysis and t...
